The world body’s special representative on sexual violence calls this the most successful experience in reducing the use of rape as a weapon of war.

Between 2013 and 2015 incidents of sexual violence have reduced in the DRC from 15 000 to 7 500.

UN Secretary General Ban ki Moon’s special envoy on sexual violence Zainab Bangura says the DRC has been the laboratory for reducing sexual violence.

Lessons learned there will be applied in places like Iraq and South Sudan.

Bangura applauds the Congolese government’s efforts to support the fight against sexual violence.
