Hosting the 16th Francophonie Summit marks the final return of Madagascar to the international scene.

Ambassador of International Organization of La Francophonie Malik Sarr says it marks the end of Madagascar ’s difficult digression that saw it suspended from the African Union and from la Francophonie.

It should have happened earlier.

Madagascar was due to host the Francophone summit back in 2009.

However, the baton was passed to Montreaux in Switzerland because Madagasacr was in the throes of a political crisis following a coup.

Now the island’s in the spotlight in front of 80 countries with all the hotel rooms and car rental in the capital fully booked.

It’s expecting the tourist flow to continue after arrival in Antananarivo of thousands participants to the summit.

The trade fair attached the summit will be the opportunity for businessmen to discover Madagascar.
