Amnesty International says some of the 400 000 fled before Burundi’s President Pierre Nkurunziza won an unconstitutional third term in power.

The rights group Amnesty International says it interviewed Burundian refugees housed in camps in Tanzania and Uganda.

All expressed fear at the prospect of going home.

Sitting in Geneva, the 47-member United Nations Human Rights Commission has voted to send a three-person expert group to advise Burundian authorities on how to bring to book human rights violators.

European Union and United States members of the council expressed disappointment at the African resolution watering down criticism of Burundi’s President Pierre Nkurunziza.
