A man suspected of being involved in the fatal 2012 attack on the diplomatic mission in Benghazi, where American Ambassador Chris Stevens was killed, is heading back to the US for trial,

Mustafa al Imam, who was living in the Libyan capital Tripoli, was captured by US Navy Seals and an FBI hostage rescue team when he made a surprise visit to the coastal city of Misurata.

Washington’s saying very little about the operation that was months in the planning.

Mustafa al Imam is the second man to face US civilian justice for Ambassador Chris Steven’s slaying.

Ahmed Abu Khattala, was captured by US commandoes at a Libyan beachside villa and  is being tried in Federal District Court Washington. If convicted, he’s facing life in prison.

It was not clear how the arrest of a second suspect could affect Khattala’s trial.
