The Toulouse-based company that describes itself as a European aircraft family is making significant inroads into the African market with 25 new Airbus operators in Africa since 2010.

Airbus forecasts a 5,6 percent annual increase in passenger trade to and from Africa over the next two decades.

It says African carriers will need well over  1 000 new passenger and freighter aircraft to meet this demand.

Ethiopian airlines is adding 14 wide-bodies Airbus A350s to its fleet – this first of which it is taking out Toulouse today.

South African Airways, Air Cote d’Ivoire, Rwandair and Mauritius  are all waiting for their  planes to come off the assembly line in France’s aviation capital.
