]]> Residents of upmarket Pretoria suburbs trying to end a sit-in outside the offices of the United Nations High Commission for Refugees will get their day in court next week.

The matter has been laid down for Guy Fawkes Day in the Pretoria High Court.

Alex Ngoy, representing the 500 refugees protesting against xenophobic attacks in South Africa and demanding that the UN High Commissioner For Refugees move them safety, says they have not been served with papers to appear in court.

The lawyers who attended a meeting earlier this month of concerned residents of Brooklyn and Waterkloof say they recognize the right to the refugees to protest.

However the health and security concerns of residents are paramount.

They are seeking an order compelling the local authority to move the protestors who are contravening  the Gatherings Act.
