A United Nations special envoy’s urging Burundi’s opposition to attend talks next week aimed at ending the violence caused by  President Pierre Nkurunziza clinging to  power

More than 500 people have died and half million been displaced in the T Great Lakes country  Nkuruziza opted to take an unconstitutional third term in power.

Special envoy for the United Nations Secretary General to Burundi Michel Kafando says its vital that negotiations  on the future of the country be inclusive.

This means the opposition must end its boycott of talks.

Kafando recommends that that his three-month mission be continued and that regional mediator, Uganda’s President Yoweri Museveni and his facilitator, former Tanzanian President Benjamin Mkapa convene a regional summit on Burundi without delay.
