The order town of Mandera is on red alert preparing for Al Shabaab militants pursuing their prey.

The Somali security personnel are either being treated in the Kenyan hospital in Mandera or sheltering in the police station.

They fled there after at least eight of their comrades were killed in a five-hour gun battle in  Bullahawa which is separated from Mandera by a row of shops.
