The World Health Organisation reports a decline in the number of Ebola infections in Liberia but warns against any suggestion the crisis is over.

There are increasing signs the affected countries can get on top of the epidemic.

WHO assistant director general Bruce Aylward says he’s terrified that positive information might be misinterpreted and people will begin thinking Ebola is under control.

He likens it to thinking one’s pet tiger is under control.

Ebola has shown signs of slowing before only to come back with increased virulence.

In Washington, President Barak Obama has hailed as heroic US health workers going to West Africa to battle Ebola.

US troops returning from the Ebola-hit region will be quarantined for 21 days.

Obama says they deserve to be treated with gratitude, dignity and respect.
