]]> With elections three weeks off, Nigeria’s national security adviser has urged the electoral commission to delay the exercise.

This is the first time Nigerian voters are required to have biometric cards and he says the authorities need more time to distribute these.

Nigerian Security chief Sambo Dasuki tells a Chatham House meeting in London that Chad is sending in a troops to help counter the violent uprising in the north east of his country by Boko Haram.

Dasuki slamscowards within Nigeria’s armed forces for failing to curb the insurgents.

He rejects any notion of a high-level conspiracy within the army to beat the jihadis but says there are elements using every excuse in this world not to fight.

Nigerian soldiers are saying they’re not being given the hardware to beat Boko Haram.
