No date has been set for the hearing in The Hague of the man who was known as Rambo.

Alfred Yekatom led a Christian militia called the Anti Balka against the Muslim Seleka rebels who overthrew President Francois Bozize in 2013.

The rebels killed 20 South African soldiers acting as advisors to the Central African Republic President.

Yekatom gained notoriety as an MP when he fired a shot into the parliament in Bangui.

He’s facing charges of murder, deportation, persecution, torture and attacking civilians – all aimed at Muslims.

He’s also charged with recruiting child soldiers under 15-years-old

I picked up Jo Nesbo to read an injured footballer- turned-rock-musician-turned-banker-turned- international-bestseller-writer. Which of these would one not want to be?

His offbeat thriller set in the land of the midnight sun departs radically from the disciplined attention to detail associated with Nordic noir but does not disappoint.

The relationship-adverse, drug dealer hero Jon/Ulf has enough unattractive characteristics to warrant full-on anti-hero status.

The fundamentalist Christian heroine with a  precocious red-haired son is more than most could take.

Because he failed as a hitman, Jon has travelled as far north as possible to escape  the crime boss who ordered the assassination of a debtor.

If one is repelled by The Fisherman’s  permanent stench of sealife, then the episode involving Jon hiding in the rotting corpse of a reindeer might be altogether too much.

Just when you think it could not possible get weirder, hold onto your anorak.
