]]> Burundi’s citizens are being asked by their government to pay for elections scheduled next month.
The government appeal comes as the African Union and donor nations say the Great Lakes country’s in no state top hold a poll in which Pierre Nkurunziza will seek an unconstitutiional third presidential term.

President Pierre Nkurunziza’s administration in Bujumbura fears donor countries will close their purses to Burundi if he persists with holding an election next month.
At least 25 people have died in daily demonstrations this past month against Nkurunziza’s determination to seek a third presidential mandate – defying the 2005 constitution he negoitiated after South African mediation ended the civil where he was a rebel leader.
Twenty people died in an abortive coup mounted earlier this month while the president was at a regional summit to discuss the crisis.
