There’s no official indication of injuries or arrests in a nation that is holding its breath for fear of communal violence.

Electoral officials have increased the number of polling stations across Kenya to 40 000. None of them have more than 7 000 voters on their rolls

Nevertheless, many of the nearly 20 million Kenyan voters queued overnight to vote when the polls opened.

Some of them did not manage to do this on time at 6 am, causing  impatience and anger.

Police have identified no fewer than 47 potential flashpoint  after post election violence claimed almost 1 500 lives in 2007-2008.
