A thousand new cases have been recorded in the past three weeks and Ebola continues to be a global threat.

Ismael Ould Cheikh Ahmed  tells the United Nations General Assembly that some cases of Ebola are going unreported – especially in Guinea.

In that country where the world’s worst Ebola outbreak began more than a year ago, many communities are preventing access by health workers.

Nevertheless the projection of 10 000 new cases a week by December hasn’t happened.

This is because of the gobal response with two-and-a-half billion dollars worth of medical and logistical help.

Ahmed says the epidemic has turned but there can be no rest in the battle against Ebola.
