Zimbabwe President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s made a second offer to give Donald Trump land at Victoria Falls to build a golf course.

The US President’s envoy to Harare has, meanwhile, spelled out how to end sanctions Washington slapped on Zimbabwe 16 years ago.

In New York for the United Nations General Assembly, Zimbabwe’s President  Emmerson Mnangagwa tells reporters he’s repeated his offer to his US counterpart Donald Trump of land at Victoria Falls to build a golf course.

He says he first made the offer at the Davos summit earlier this year.

Trump’s made no sign of taking it up.

However his ambassador to Harare Brian Nichols is adamant the new Zimbabwe administration is all talk and not action and US sanctions slapped on Zimbabwe for gross human rights violations and corruption  in 2002 will stay in place until there is a demonstrable change in in approach.

Emergency services in Zimbabwe’s public hospitals have  ground  to a halt after nurses joined doctors on strike.

Hospitals have been turning away the sick and patients have been discharged early.

Nurses  stayed away from the main hospitals in Harare and nearby Chitungwiza in what has become an  indefinite protest.

Zimbabwe authorities were forced to deploy army doctors last week.

There is a concern they’ll not be able to cope without nurses.

Zimbabwe’s medical professionals are some of the worst paid in the region and their salaries are often paid late.

Zimbabwe officials say they’re not able to stop anger over xenophobic attacks in South Africa dominating a SADC summit opening in Harare today.
President Robert Mugabe’s spokesman George Charamba says the gathering’s meant to plan industrial growth for the region but it’s up to heads of state to decide whether violence against foreigners in South Africa is brought up.

Xenophobic violence in South Africa this month claimed victims from Zimbabwe, Mozambique and Malawi.
The presidents of all three of these countries are in Harare with President Jacob Zuma this morning.
Even sticking to the subject of industrialisation could bring up the violence because it is why so many citizens of neighbouring countries head for South Africa, the continent’s most sophisticated economy, to find work.
