]]> The Nigerian government’s banned a Shia group involved in deadly clashes with security forces in the capital Abuja last week.

The court order proscribing  the pro-Iranian Islamic Movement of Nigeria comes as its leader comes to court to end his four-year detention.

At least six demonstrators, a senior police officer and a journalist covering the demonstration died in clashes last week.

Supporters of Islamic Movement of Nigeria were demonstrating for the release of their leader Ibraheem Zakzaky who’s been held since 2015.

They say he has suffered two stroke and needs urgent medical treatment.

The authorities have now declared the IMN a terrorist group.

Government’s  failed to comply with a federal court ordering Zakzaky’s release two years ago.
