Kenyan authorities have arrested a  Chinese man caught on film making a racist rant.

They say the man filmed by a disgruntled employee will be deported.

Liu Jiaqi was filmed making derogatory remarks about Kenyans.

The Chinese national says all Kenyans, including President Uhuru Kenyatta, are like monkeys.

He was captured on video by one of his employees who was about to be fired.

The employee can be heard challenging Liu, saying what he doing is extremely wrong.

He asks Liu, who says Kenyans smell bad, are poor and not very bright, why he  is even in the country?

The Chinese man replies: for money. Money’s important.

Kenya’s Interior Ministry says Liu’s work permit has been cancelled and will be deported on racism grounds.

Egypt’s human rights council complains that the authorities’ human rights record had not improved.

Its annual report notes a string of enforced disappearances by the police and abuse of prisoners.

The National Council for Human Rights, which is the country’s official rights watchdog, says the human rights situation in Egypt hasn’t  changed in spite of the adoption of the new constitution two years ago.

The council’s raised 266 cases of enforced disappearances with the interior ministry, of whom 27 were since revealed to have been released while 143 remained in pretrial detention.

The ministry responds that 44 of the missing people have not been arrested, and may have disappeared for other reasons, including to join jihadist groups.

The cases were documented between April 2015 and the end of March this year.

Egypt’s journalists’ union’s  called for the dismissal of the interior minister and launched an open-ended sit-in at its headquarters in downtown Cairo.

It’s protesting the detention of two journalists on its premises on Sunday night.

ends intro.

On World Press Freedom Day Egypt’s Journalist Syndicate has announced a general assembly to be held tomorrow with the message journalists are not terrorists and branding the Interior Ministry are thugs.

Side streets are blocked off by police who restricted entry to the area around the union headquarters.

The union called the police raid on their offices heavy-handed blatant barbarism and aggression on the dignity of the press.

Police counter that only eight officers were involved, acting on an arrest warrant for the two journalists accused of organising protests to destabilise the country.
