MUSLIM clerics find themselves at the sharp end of the fight against COVID19 as they counter jihadi propaganda about the origin and spread of the virus.

Authorities in Mogadishu are dealing with a handful of coronavirus infection. However they fear things will get out of control if the Al Shabaab misinformation against traction.

At least a quarter of a million people died in the famine a decade ago when Al Shabaab prevented people from accepting international aid.

Now the terror groupm is saying COVID19 is being spread by crusaders and their disbeliever allies.

Muslim  clerics in Mogadishu are using loud hailers at street corners to nail the lie and persuade the people that getting the help of the World Health Organisation is vital.

France’s President Emmanuel Macron says African leaders on the fringe of the Sahara desert must say if they need France to continue helping them in their fight against Islamist terrorism.

Speaking at the end of the NATO summit in London, Macron says the Sahel leaders must address anti French sentiment about its role in Africa.

France is the only Western country with a substantial military presence in Africa.

It sent in troops to prevent Mali being overrun by Jihadis in 2013.

It still has 4 500 soldiers helping the so called Sahel G5 comprising Mali, Niger, Mauritania, Chad and Burkina Faso.

French President Emmanuel Macron says if those troops are stay there, African leaders must affirm that they need them.

Burkino Faso’s police reported a coordinated attack  several locations in Ouagadougou, including close to the prime minister’s office and United Nations roundabout, adding that it believed jihadi groups were behind the assault.

French embassy reported on its website that it was under attack.

Later it said there was no clarity on which sites were being targeted.

At least 17 people were killed and eight others were wounded in an attack on a restaurant in Burkina Faso’s capital, Ouagadougou.

More people are believed to trapped in the building.

Gunmen attacked the Aziz Istanbul restaurant, and security forces were deployed to try to end the onslaught.

Witnesses said shots were heard around 9 p.m.

Several hours later, a heavy exchange of gunfire still rang out.

Sunday’s attack comes less than two years after Islamic extremists killed 30 people at a downtown restaurant popular with foreigners.

It wasn’t immediately clear who carried out the attack.

Burkina Faso, like other countries in West Africa, has been sporadically targeted by jihadist groups operating across Africa’s Sahel.

Islamist terrorists say they killed Christian students in north east Kenya because they were engaged in missionary work.

The gunman killed at least 16 students at Garissa university after separating and freeing their Muslim counterparts.

More than 500 students remain unaccounted for.

Al Shabab terrorists from Somalia have launched cross border raids into Kenya to avenge that country supporting the government in Mogadishu.

However it’s clear from the jihadis remarks today that they regard parts of Kenya to be under Muslim control.

President Uhuru Kenyatta reacted with fury.

He says recruitment of 10 000 new police officers will be speeded up after today’s attack on the university campus.

He urged fellow Kenyans to remain calm but gave no indication how his security forces are dealing with the situation still playing out in Garissa.
