Archbishop John Sentamu says people can pray at home without having to risk infection by going to church.

The Ugandan-born Archbishop of York John Sentamu is urging worshippers at risk of Ebola infection to avoid large crowds.

This means staying away from church services.

In an interview with the BBC he says God hears prayers offered alone and at home.

Sentamu says he’s heartened by the financial aid and medical experts Britain is pouring into the Ebola infected countries of Guinea, Sierra Leone and Liberia.

He maintains that other countries –particuarly European Union members – should be doing more.
