Shipload of EU aid arrives to fight Ebola

A vast shipment of aid for the three West African countries worst his by Ebola has arrived from Europe.

Carried on the Dutch navy’s largest ship, the Karel Doorman , it’s landed in Guinea and will go on to Sierra Leone and Liberia.

The giant ship’s carrying vehicles and medical equipment.

Cargo being unloaded in Guinea includes enriched flour, some 20 all-terrain vehicles, ambulances and medical equipment such as masks.

It hasn’t been possible to details of the shipment’s value and total weight.

The Karel Doorman been on rescue missions to West Africa before.

It delivered aid to the three worst hit Ebola countries in November, including vehicles and tonnes of hospital equipment.

Ebola has killed more than 7,500 people over the past year, almost all of them in Liberia, Guinea and Sierra Leone.
