Speaking at the United Nations General Assembly Zuma says there are no safe hands for weapons of mass destruction.

President Jacob Zuma criticizes North Korean dictator Kim Jong Un for trying to make his country a nuclear power.

However he maintains it can no longer be acceptable that some few countries keep arsenals and stockpiles of nuclear weapons as part of their strategic defence and security doctrine, while expecting others to remain at their mercy.

South Africa’s  concerned that any possible accidental detonation would lead to a disaster of epic proportions.

It’s calling on all UN member states to sign and ratify the Ban Treaty in order to rid humanity of weapons of mass destruction.
