In Kenya there’s a manhunt in the forest of the Lamu archipelago for up to 20 people that attacked a bus, killing three people.

No-one’s claimed responsibility but Al Shabaab has often attacked traffic on the Malindi Lamu road.

This is believed to be yet another retaliatory attack by Al Shabaab for Kenyan support of the UN peacekeeping force in Somalia.

Kenyan police escort traffic along the Malindi Lamu Road 450 kms from Nairobi because of terrorist attacks.

The bus that was first stoned and then fired upon had pulled ahead of the other two buses in the convoy.

The dead include the driver and a senior police officer.

The attackers ran into the Boni forest where they are being sought.

Kenya’s beefing up security along its border with Somalia after an increase in the number of cross-frontier attacks by the terrorist movement Al Shabaab.

The country’s security forces are already at full stretch ensuring an orderly election on August 8.

Being popular with tourists, Lamu and other islands  along Kenya’s  Swahili Coast need special protection from the Al Shabaab terrorists operating there.

Their attacks are  aimed at stopping Kenyan authorities helping the Somali government in its anti-terror operations.

They also earn the publicity-hungry  militants airtime and frontpage attention.

The residents of the this region live in fear of the terrorists, but they also want to use this campaign to address their lack of trust in the government and its treatment of Muslims.

Al Shabaab militants have behead nine men in a southeast Kenyan village, giving rise to fears of a new strategy by the terrorist towards their neighbouring state.

The attack in the coastal area of Lamu follows the killing of three police officers by Al Shabaab.

Al Shabaab uses beheading in Somalia against perceived enemies and to terrorise the population.

Jihadis have not until now decapitated victims in neighboring Kenya.

Fearing that this means a new cross-border boldness by Al Shabaab, Kenyan authorities have placed a twelve-hour curfew on parts of Lamu and neighboring districts for the next three months.

President Uhuru Kenyatta promises to leave no stone unturned in the hunt for the terrorists and no vacuum in securing Kenya.

Unidentified men on a motorcycle have shot and killed at least four people in the Kenyan coastal city of Mombasa.

Eight people were injured in the attack yesterday .

The night time attack came in the area of Mombassa known as Soweto.

No-one has claimed responsibility for it.

In recent weeks the Somali terror group Al Shabab and its local supporters have launched a series of attacks in Kenya.

The Al-Qaeda-linked group says it’s retaliating for Kenya’s military intervention in Somalia and boasts it is able to operate at will.

Al Shadab says it’s responsible for Friday night’s assault on a bus near the Kenyan holiday island of Lamu.

Two police officers are among the dead.

Kenyan authorities say at least 29 people have died in attacks around the Lamu area on their Indian Ocean coast.

More than 65 people died in massacres by the Al Shabab terror group in the area last month.

Al Shabab’s claimed responsibility for the attacks by gunmen who fired indiscriminately at homes, burned down a church and raided a police station.

Twenty of the victims were killed in an attack in the Gamba area of Tana River county, where gunmen rushed the police station and freed suspected al-Shabab militants.

Another nine were killed in a separate raid at the Hindi trading centre in neighbouring Lamu county.

This occurred near the town of Mpeketoni where 65 people were killed last month.

Kenya’s government blamed local dissidents for that action.

President Uhuru Kenyatta blames political insiders for two terror attacks on coastal towns in his country that the Somali group Al Shabab claims responsibility for.

Kenyatta insists the Islamic extremists are not behind the two attacks that have killed more than 60 people.

President Uhuru Kenyatta’s shock announcement comes in a nationally televised address.

He says local political leaders inside Kenya are behind what calls ethnically motivated violence.

The Somali terror group al-Shabab has claimed responsibility for two nights of attacks near the tourist resort island of Lamu that targeted non-Muslims.

The newer attack came in Majembeni in which 10 people died.

The village is next to Mpeketoni, where four dozen Christian men were slaughtered on Sunday night and Monday morning.
