]]> Kenya’s passed a new anti-doping law that could allow it to compete at the Rio Olympic Games later this year.

The East African athletics power’s already missed two deadlines set by the World Anti-Doping Agency to show it was tackling cheating in sport.

The new law provides for dopers to be fined and imprisoned for up to a year.

It creates a national agency to police this.

The World Anti Doping Agency will meet on May 12th to discuss the case.

Since 2011, more than 40 Kenyan athletes have failed drugs tests and the country’s Athletics Federation general manager Isaac Mwangi was suspended for six months at the end of February.

International Association of Athletics Federations president Lord Coe threatened Kenya with a ban if it did not pass the bill into law.
