The civilian protestors have called off as general strike and the generals have undertaken to release political prisoners.

Ethiopian mediator Mahmoud Dirir says the Sudan talks will resume shortly.

However, the man left in Khartoum to continue the work started last Friday by Ethiopian premier Abiy Ahmed will not give details.

The talks broke down on June 3 when soldiers clearing a sit-in outside military headquarters in Khartoum killed 118 civilian protestors.

The civil disobedience that followed has brought economic life in Sudan to a standstill.

If, indeed the talks resume, there are major differences between civilian and military leaders about the composition of a transitional authority  following the ouster of Omar Al Bashir in April.
