]]> Angry residents of Mankweng in Limpopo have marked the anniversary of Nelson Mandela’s passing by mounting a service delivery protest that paralysed traffic between Polokwane and Tzaneen.
The demonstrators lit a huge bonfire on the N71 causing tailbacks for kilometers both ways.

Police in Mankweng says they have not been told by protestors exactly what their grievance is.
Last month demonstrators blocked access to the Tzaneen hospital demanding that the local authority  restore  water supply to their homes.
Today’s action in the heat of the day stopped commercial traffic and holiday makers heading for the Lowveld.
Extra police have been deployed to extinguish the roaring 20 meter  fire melting the tar road and attempt to get traffic moving.
