]]> The United Nations warns of the risk of HIV AIDS spiralling back out of control unless world leaders fast track efforts to beat the syndrome.

Charlize Theron has thrown her weight behind a campaign by the world organisation to end AIDS as a global health threat by 2030.

A report launched by Charlize Theron and UNAIDS executive director Michel Sidebe calls for the adoption of a set of medium-term targets to counter HIV AIDS.

The goal is preventing some of the 21 million AIDS-related deaths.

Sedibe says the trajectory of the epidemic has been bent.

The world now has five years to break it for good — or see it rebounding out of control.

The strategy calls for 90 percent of HIV positive people to know their status, 90 percent of them getting treatment and 90 percent of them suppressing viral loads.
