]]> Uganda’s President Yoweri Museveni supports increasing the chief executive’s vermin office from five to seven years.

Constitutionalists says this would make one of Africa’s longest serving leader president for life.

Yoweri Museveni became President of Uganda nearly 32 years ago after overthrowing the dictator Idi Amin.

He was also involved in the rebellion toppling Milton Obote.

In power, he’s tampered with the constitution to overthrow term limits and age restrictions on presidential candidates.

Now he’s saying more time between elections would give presidents more opportunity to promote development.

Museveni says five years between elections is a joke.

Leaders in Africa have much more to do and need adequate time between elections to develop the continent.

African presidents should not be distracted by politics.
