]]> Africa’s youngest billionaire says South Africans kidnapped him outside his upmarket gym in Dar es  Salaam earlier this month.

Mohammed Dewji’s family offered R6,2 for information leading to his whereabouts, but it’s not sure if any ransom was paid for his release.

Mohammed Dewji’s abductors released on the outskirts of Dar es Salaam this morning.

The 43 year told Forbes magazine, who lists him as Africa’s youngest and Tanzania’s only dollar billionaire that his abductors were South African.

Dewji has not given further details.

He transformed his family’s wholesale grocery business into a six-nation conglomerate dealing in textiles, manufacturing, milling, edible oils and beverages.

He was an MP for Tanzania’s ruling party for a decade until 2015.

He’s offered to donate half his R21-billion fortune to humanitarian causes.

]]> The family of kidnapped billionaire Tanzanian businessman Mohammed Dewji have have  offered a six-and-a-half million rand reward for information leading to his arrest.

The motive for last Thursday’s abduction of Tanzania’s only and Africa’s youngest billionaire remain unknown.

Mo Dewji was kidnapped as he entered a luxury gymnasium in Dar es Salaam.

Police have arrested 20 people in connection with the abduction.

Authorities say two white men are behind the crime.

Dewji, who turned a family business into an Africa-wide conglomerate,  promised in 2016 to give half his money to philanthropic causes.

He served as a ruling party MP for a decade until 2015 and is the sponsor of leading Tanzanian football team Simba.
