Bail has been granted to two Aljazeera journalists being retried in Cairo for spreading lies and supporting the Muslim Brotherhood.

It means Mohammed Fahmy and Baher Mohammed can go home after 304 days behind bars.

It isn’t sure whether the global outcry against the imprisonment of Mohammed Fahmy and Baher Mohammed has led to their being freed on bail.

Their convictions were overturned last month when retrails was ordered. A third accused, Peter Greste, has been deported.

Fahmy has renounced his Egyptian citizenship in the hope of being deported to Canada.

Officials in Ottawa say they had assurances this would happen.

The journalists deny the charges, insisting they were only doing their job covering the military takeover after the overthrow of democratically-elected President Mohammed Moursi.
