However, Moise Katumbi, a wealthy businessman who is backing opposition leader Martin Fayulu for president says they’re not going to call for chaos or a boycott,.

He believes this will play into the hands of outgoing President Joseph Kabila who is fearful of losing

Katumbi says Kabila wants the opposition to boycott the election.

Joseph Kabila, who’s constitutional mandate expired 19 months ago, is not permitted to run. 

It’s not clear whether he intends to extend his 17 years in power behind the scenes.

Fears remain about the possibility of violence at the election on December 23.
