]]> A Greek military aircraft has joined in the massive search and rescue operation for an Egyptair flight that went missing off the Mediterranean coast this morning.

The scheduled flight from Paris to Cairo was nearing is destination when it went off radar.

Egyptair flight MS 840 was a 13 year old Airbus A320

An Egyptian official was quoted by an Arab news agency as saying the plane had crashed into the sea.

This cannot be confirmed by officials in Cairo.

Egyptair has put a telephone number on its website for family members of the 56 passengers, seven crew members and three security staff on board.

The passengers include one child and two babies.

The flight was in Egyptian airspace when it disappeared from radar.
