Eyewitness News has learned that Winnie Madikizela Mandela has been struggling to recover from back surgery she underwent earlier this year.

She requires a further operation but her diabetic condition is making this difficult.

Madikizela Mandela has not commented on the Mthatha High Court ruling last week that dismissed, with costs, her bid to seek ownership of the home in Qunu of her former husband former President Nelson Mandela who left her out of his will.
