The Zambian Watchdog, which has drawn official criticism for regularly reporting on the 77 year-old leader’s failing health, says it has 100 per cent positive confirmation of his death

President MichaeL Sata went to London’s King Edward VII hospital ten days ago for treatment.

Last month he took ill in New York, where he missed his speaking slot at the United Nations General Assembly.

There were reports then he had died.

The London hospital has not issued any statement today.

The Zambian Watchdog says his wife and three of his sons including Lusaka Mayor Mulenga Sata were at the president death bed.

Conjecture about the president’s health has heighted after Sata failed to take his turn at the United General Assembly podium in New York on Wednesday.

US State Department doctors treated the president in his hotel room but he has not been admitted to hospital.

Opening parliament in Lusaka a week ago, Zambian president Michael Sata poked fun at speculation about his failing health declaring he hadn’t died yet.

Rumors that Sata is deathly ill have gripped the southern African country since the leader largely dropped out of public view months ago.

Sata’s son Mulenga, who is Lusaka’s mayor, says he spoke to his father this morning.

He insists the president is well.
