]]> A taxi driver  swerving to avoid a snake crashed into a truck on the Nairobi Mombasa Highway killing eight people.

The driver himself is among the dead. Ten people were seriously injured and hospitalised.

There are differing versions about the second deadly accident this week on Kenya’s busiest road.

At least 24 people were killed on the highway last Monday when a taxi crashed into an oil tanker.

A passenger injured in yesterday’s crash says she heard the driver shout that  he’d seen a large snake in the road.

Another passenger says the taxi driver was trying to overtake when he crashed.
