The former Burundi intelligence chief who attempted to overthrow President Pierre Nkurunziza is on the run.

Other leading plotters have been arrested.

Their fate is expected to be spelled out by Nkurunziza when he addresses the nation today.

….telling Burundians how he beat a mutiny and what he plans to do about elections scheduled for next month….

….where he’ll defy protestors at home and leaders from Africa and Western friends by standing for an unconstitutional third term.

Nkurunziza ‘s huge convoy was greeted by brightly clad supporters when it arrived in Bujumbura today from his northern town of Ngozi.

The United Nations says more than 105,000 people have fled the country since unrest began in Burundi last month.
