Nuredein Wehabrebi Atta is currently serving a five year jail term  in Italy for people smuggling.

He tells Italian police that migrants unable to pay for journeys across the Meditteranean are sold for €15,000 to groups, particularly Egyptians, who are equipped for harvesting organs.

Italian police say as a result of his testimony  they’ve detained 38 people – 25 Eritreans, 12 Ethiopians and one Italian – suspected of being involved.

Interior Minister Angelino Alfano says the authorities have dealt a harsh blow to the criminal network, which uses Rome for its financial transactions hub.
