Collapsed oil prices force Angola to spend less on health care and heavy rains have created an ideal breeding ground for the mosquito carrying the virus.

Angola has been grappling with its worst yellow fever outbreak in three decades.

The big fear is it could spread to China, which has been free of the virus, if Chinese workers return home sick, and supply of the vaccine is already under pressure.

At least 250 yellow fever deaths and nearly 2,000 cases have been reported in Angola since December, but World Health Organisation officials believe the numbers are higher.

The epidemic’s taken hold in the densely populated capital of Angola.

Infections linked to Angola have already been seen in Kenya, Morocco, the Democratic Republic of Congo and China.

He’s the first man in that African giant to democratically unseat an inbcumbent president.

Muhammadu Buhari’s hard work began when Goodluck Jonathan called him yesterday to concede defeat in last Saturday’s election.

He’s now got to keep his campaign promises to defeat the Islamist terror group Boko Haram that made its deadly presence felt in the northeast of the country killing 20 people on polling day.

And he has to grab corruption by the scruff of the neck.

His harsh approach to the graft that is holding back Nigeria led to his being replaced as military leader after 20 months in the eighties.

Arguably his biggest problem – and there’s little he can do about it – is the depressed price of oil, which is the cornerstone of his economy.
