He’s made a made a startling admission that government had sanctioned physical abuse of its political prisoners, which he says has come to an end.

Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed’s shocking remarks came while  answering  questions from Ethiopian members of parliament.

One them asked about the constitutionality of releasing prisoners jailed for corruption and terrorism.

He pointed the finger at  security authorities referring to people across the country being locked in dark rooms and tortured  and added state terrorism amounts to unconstitutionally holding onto power.

Ahmed also spoke about the necessity of finalizing peace with Eritrea by accepting the decisions of a border commission and recent decisions to privatise the state telecommunications company and the national airline.
