The Ethiopian government insists that marathon silver medalist Feyisa Lilesa can return home to a heroes welcome.

The Oromia athlete’s supporters insist that he risks death following at the protest he made for his people who have lost more than 400 activists in clashes with the government in recent months

While Olympics athletes are returning to rowdy welcomes by their local supporters, marathon medalist Feyisa Lilesa is asking if it will be safe for him to go home.

He knew  the price of the protest he made when crossing the finish line in Rio.

He told reporters then he could be killed.

His supporters who raised $50 000 for him a matter of hours believe his fears are justified.

They’re advising him the seek political asylum.
