South Africa’s serious crimes squad known as the Hawks is probing allegations that a provincial premier made a gift of a  herd of cattle in October 2016 to then President Jacob Zuma.

The cattle breeder says Zuma personally signed for the beasts that were delivered to his personal home Nkandla.

The 24 cows and one bull worth more than 100 000 euros were paid for with public money and were supposed to have gone to emerging farmers in North West province,

Cattle breeder Lucas Msiza says he was instructed by NorthWest provincial premier Supra Mahumapelo to deliver them to Zuma’s home in KwaZulu/Natal.

NorthWest province was torn by violent protests last week calling for the premier to be sacked for corruption

President Cyril Ramaphosa came home early from the Commonwealth summit in London to deal with the crisis.

He says government is looking as serious issues in NorthWest concerning the premier’s position.

The far-left Economic Freedom Fighters have called on the Ombudsman, known in South Africa as the Public Protector, to probe the allegation of the gift cattle and to force Zuma to pay back the money if there is any impropriety.

Since being ousted in mid-February, Zuma has remained in the headlines.

Last week, 24 year old Nonkanyiso Conco said she had given birth to his 23rd child on April 12 which was Zuma’s 76th birthday.

She says he plans to make her his seventh bride.

It was double trouble for President Jacob Zuma when he lost two rulings in the Pretoria High Court.

The judges ruled that the South African President must pay personally pay the legal cost of his failed application to have the ombudsman’s ruling for a commission of inquiry into state capture set aside

They further ordered that Zuma is too conflicted to name the members of that commission himself

This is a further indication of power draining away from President Jacob Zuma. as the ruling African National Congress prepares to meet this week to elect his successor.

Party spokesman Zizi Khodwa welcomes the High Court ruling, saying an inquiry into state capture is in the country’s best interest.

Khodwa says Zuma must implement the court ruling without delay

Judge President Dunstan Mlambo says Zuma has 30 days to call for a commission of inquiry into state capture as instructed  by the then Public Protector Thuli Madonsela

The commission members must be named by the Chief Justice.

Madonsela welcomes the ruling, saying it gives Zuma pause.

Mlambo declared Zuma was ill advised and reckless to seek a review of her recommendation

He cannot continue wasting taxpayer’s money on vexatious legal challenges.

She says delaying the  commission of inquiry is  making a cold case of a very worrying phenomenon.

Evidence was disappearing every day.

President Jacob Zuma’s launched the African National Congress manifesto for South Africa’s local elections in August urging people to vote for the ruling party because it is the only one that can improve their lives.

He was greeted with loud cheers and enthusiasm by tens of thousands of people in the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium where his the ANC faces a neck-and-neck battle battle in what was once a stronghold.

Projecting a resolutely upbeat image, President Jacob Zuma  did a lap around the stadium upon entry to greet the crowd.

There were an estimated 30,000 people present, far short of the 110 000 that party spokesperson Zizi Kodwa promised would attend.

Zuma assured them that a vote for the ANC would be a vote for the constitution.

The the highest court in the  land has declared Zuma flouted the constitution by failing to heed the Public Protector’s directive to pay back public money spend on non-security upgrades to his private home.

ANC spokesperson Zizi Kodwa explained that  the stadium wasn’t filled to capacity was because the 4,000 buses laid on by the party left late from different areas of the Eastern Cape. A member of the ANC provincial executive committee in the Eastern Cape blamed the ANC head office for failing to pay for transport on time.

The Nelson Mandela Bay metro is a focal point for the upcoming local elections.

The ANC has been losing support to the opposition Democratic Alliance in the area where it once buried its leaders because they it was regarded  as home.

President Jacob Zuma has apologised to the South African public for the confusion and frustration caused by the drawn out controversy over public funds being used to upgrade his private home.

The leadership of South Africa’s ruling African National Congress has commended Zuma humbling himself to the people and unanimously backed his continued leadership of the party and country.

President Jacob Zuma’s used an extraordinary address to the nation to defended himself after a seismic court judgment slamming his initial rebuff  to the Public Protector ordering him to repay public funds used

for non-security improvements to his private residence.

In what what was widely speculated to be his resignation speech, Zuma  admitted his conduct was inconsistent

with the constitution.

Mantashe says the party will no tear itself apart by bowing to the chorus of calls for Zuma to step down.

Leading these is opposition Democratic Alliance, whose leader Mmusi Maimani says Zuma’s deliberately trying to mislead the public.

Political analysts say the municipal elections due next month will be a good indicator of whether Zuma has become a liability for the ANC and whether he will survive until the party’s  elective conference at the end of next year.
