]]> Anti corruption activists in Nigeria are fuming over the erection of a giant statue of President Jacob Zuma who visited there last week.

They’re saying its inappropriate to honour Zuma who’s fighting corruption charges in South Africa.

Nigeria’s Civil Society Network Against Corruption, which is a coalition of 150 organisations working against graft, has taken Imo governor Rochas Okorocha to task for the honours bestowed on visiting South African President Jacob Zuma.

Zuma’s  surprise visit to Imo came in the same week that an Appeal Court ruling in Bloemfontein effectively reinstated corruption charges against him.

In addition to the giant bronze statue, Imo awarded Zuma the order of merit, gave him a chieftaincy title and name a street after him.
