]]> More than 30 soldiers from an elite Cameroonian unit are missing after their vessel capsized off the country’s south-west coast.

Rescuers have recovered only three people from the craft carrying members of the Rapid Intervention Brigade  fighting Boko Haram crossing into Cameroon from Nigeria.

The accident was caused by rough seas, although investigations into the exact reason continue.

The logistics boat was carrying equipment for constructing a military base on the Bakassi Peninsula.

The brigade has helped restore stability there after a spate of hostage-takings.

Cameroon deploys thousands of troops in its far north region to beat back a Book Haram insurgency that has killed 20 000 people in the Lake Chad region and displaced more than 2,7 million.
