Lin Songtian accuses the Trump Administration  of breaking down the very rules-based system that the United States itself built up after the second world war.

Speaking to reporters in Pretoria, Lin Songtian says a trade war would hurt more than only China and the United States. It would damage the international economy.

China’s prepared to talk to avoid such a calamity, he says,  but if pushed: “China is not afraid of  that and will fight to the end if we are forced to fight in order to safeguard the common interest of the people all over the world

Lin says the world can hear both sides of the argument and judge for itself who is breaking down the system designed to protect free trade.
