]]> President Cyril Ramaphosa’s reiterated South Africa’s commitment to reform designed to make the African Union self sufficient, independent and more effective.

He was speaking at an extraordinary summit of the continental body reviewing progress made towards these goals.

The AU summit was Rwandan President Paul Kagame’s last opportunity to drive the reform process he’s as undertaken as chairman of its assembly.

South Africa’s suppported him throughout, as President Cyril Ramaphosa explained.

A reformed and properly financed AU will ensure universal health care for all its citizens; infrastructure development  vital for economic progress; enhanced agriculture and agribusiness; and the beneficiation of minerals ending the continent selling off its raw materials cheaply to buy back the manufactured  products they are made from.
