She adds that potential investors from the US or Europe should be told they’re not wanted in South Africa.

Tsietsie Mashinini, who was a leader of the 1976 black youth uprising, is among hundreds who’ve expressed their anger at this.

He asserts that blacks have not felt welcome in their own country since Van Riebeck arrived.

La Grange subsequently apologises if her remarks have hurt people who have nothing do with the frustrations she shares with many compatriots about developments in the country.

She insists this frustration is not limited to race or culture.
