The terrorists died in a firefight in the desert around Minya.

The Islamists attack the buses and robbed the passengers before killing seven of them. 

A further 18 were wounded.

It took place on the road to the monastery of Saint Samuel the Confessor where a  similar onslaught in May last year killed 28 Christians.

The Copts, who make up a tenth of Egypt’s 98-million population, say the government is not providing them enough protection.

They ask why the authorities could not prevent  a repeat of the lethal attack.

Christian youths blocked the railway line between Cairo and Upper Egypt chanting: “Either we avenge them or we die like them.”
