]]> The spate of security crisis gripping the world won’t stop the group uniting planet’s most muscular economies from chasing the goal of growth and job creation.

As rotating head of that group, Australia believes the security challenges raise the price of failing to meet economic targets.

Heather Smith is Australia’s Sherpa on the G20. That means she drives her country’s work with the group born six years ago during the Asian financial crisis and forged two years later in the world economic meltdown.

Pretoria’s the African member on the G20 and Smith has come for consultations ahead of the summit Australia’s hosting later this year.

Smith says the G20 won’t follow the G7 in suspending Russia because of the Ukraine crisis.
