Africa’s  very, very far away from meeting the global target to end child malnutrition

A study funded by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation covering 51 countries find the entire continent will miss the 2030 UN deadline of ending child malnutritionition.

ends intro

Two papers published in the scientific journal Nature identify local hotspots for poor child nutrition and low education levels across 51 African countries.

Senior author of the papers and director of geospatial science at the Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation Simon Hay says the UN global goal of ending childhood malnutrition  was always an aspirational target.

Hay says that is is now very, very far away as people at the top levels of government question the value of international aid and what it brings.
