]]> Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari’s been received at the White House by his American counterpart Donald Trump.

He’s the first African leader to be accorded this honour.

US President  Donald Trump has rewarded the careful avoidance of criticism by Nigerian leader Muhammadu Buhari but inviting him to Washington.

Trump has some fence mending to do having dismissed Africa – and Nigeria specifically – in crude and offensive terms.

He also wants to talk security with the the Nigerian president.

Trump’s Department of State  has effectively ignored for most of his presidency.

But his Defence Department is painfully aware that Africa is an incubator for international terrorism and and has stepped – providing training, drones and in few cases boots on the ground.
