]]> The lawyer for Kenya’s Uhuru Kenyatta has sought his acquittal on charges of crimes against humanity when he became the first sitting president to appear before the International Criminal Court..

Kenyatta was summoned to answer questions about allegedly masterminding deadly post-election violence in 2007-2008.

President Uhuru Kenyatta’s lawyer says the case against him has failed and there’s no prospect of the ICC taking it any further.

Steven Kay was speaking after the prosecution admitted it did not have enough evidence to proceed because the Nairobi government is not cooperating.

Kay says it will be an affront to common sense to say that Kenyatta’s not entitled to an acquittal.

The Kenyan president thanked supporters for coming to court.

He says he’s met the ICC request to be there and there’s still nothing.
